The Town
Blackheath is the closest village to Ferntree Cottage, a small suburb 113km from central Sydney with a population of only 4,200. Sitting close to the highest point of the blue mountains between Katoomba and Mount Victoria. It boasts magnificent views of the Megalong Valley on the south side of the Great Western Highway and is positioned close to several of the mountain's most exciting attractions.
The town itself is very small but home to all the conveniences you need to make your stay enjoyable. The local bakery is famous across Australia for it's Sourdough bread and produces a variety of other delicious treats. There is an amazing antiques market located in what was once the local theatre, a historical building adorned with murals by Blackheath's thriving community of local artists. You'll also find a local bar, bottle shop and convenience store as well as several restaurants and eateries to choose from including Ashcroft's (Winner of multiple awards and considered one of the most highly rated restaurants in Australia).
